Review of Immortal in Death by J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts)

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Listening to Immortal in Death on audio was an absolute treat, even on a re-read. J.D. Robb (the pseudonym of Nora Roberts) delivers another compelling installment in the In Death series. This third book plunges us into the glamorous, yet perilous, world of high fashion, where Lieutenant Eve Dallas is tasked with solving the murder of a top model. The stakes are personal this time, as Eve’s best friend becomes the prime suspect.

What truly captivated me was the element of surprise in the plot. Much like Eve, I didn’t see the murderer coming until it was almost too late. The twists and turns kept me hooked, and the story’s pace was just right, maintaining the tension throughout.

One of the aspects I admire most about this series is how quickly Eve and Roarke’s relationship progresses. Their marriage comes early in the series, which I find refreshing. Instead of dragging out the inevitable, Roberts focuses on the complexities and tensions that newlyweds naturally face. This decision adds depth to the characters and keeps the narrative fresh and engaging.
