⭐️ Rating: 4.22 (22,962 ratings, 887 reviews)
As usual, J.D. Robb delivers with “Midnight in Death,” an engaging short story that takes readers on a suspenseful ride alongside Lieutenant Eve Dallas. In this addition to the In Death series, set in the bustling future of New York City in 2058, we see Eve facing one of her darkest challenges yet as she confronts a serial killer with a personal vendetta.
I’ve been relistening to all the books in the In Death series in sequence, and I was pleasantly surprised to come across this short story. It’s a fantastic addition that fits seamlessly into Eve’s world, packed with intrigue, romance, and thrilling suspense. The characters, particularly Eve and her husband Roarke, shine as they navigate the dangers of their profession while maintaining their bond.
At just 90 pages, it’s a quick and easy listen that has a perfect mix of tension and emotion. It certainly took the sting out of the administrative tasks I needed to handle for my day job! I appreciated how Robb masterfully weaves crime and romance together, giving readers an immersive experience, even in a short format.
What more could I ask for? A compelling narrative, beloved characters, and an engaging plot that makes you want to keep listening – “Midnight in Death” has it all. Thank you, J.D. Robb! The book gets a very solid three star rating from this reader.
